II. THE TWOFOLD NATURE OF THE ADORNING
A. Our Behaviour Affects the Doctrine
1. We are to have “behaviour as becometh holiness” (Titus 2:3).
2. We are to behave in such a way “that the word of God be not blasphemed” (Titus 2:5).
3. We are to behave in such a way “that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed (1 Timothy 6:1).
B. Our Doctrine Affects Our Behaviour
1. God wants man to have knowledge of doctrine.
2. Paul’s epistles often begin with doctrine, but they do not end there.
3. Doctrine affects practice
4. True faith produces works (James 2:17-18; see Hebrews 11)
III. THE PROVISION OF THE ADORNING
A. Shamelessness – There is great peace and liberty found by living within the bounds of sound doctrine.
B. Beauty (see Proverbs 1:9-10)
