The Type of Men We Need

Colossians 3:18-21

INTRODUCTION: A great war has been waged against manhood. Men have been led to believe that true manhood in inexcusable and unsavoury. The feminist movement has done everything it can to undermine the God ordained structure of the home, the church, and the country. The result is uninvolved, berated, or effeminate men and an upcoming generation that understands very little of what it even means to be a man. In fact, the average man has almost become convinced that he owes the world an apology for being a man. All of this is counter to what God desires. God is looking for and in need of some men.

I. MEN WHO LEARN (Colossians 3:18)

A. The Common Focus

1. Women are to submit to their own husbands
2. As it is fit in the Lord

B. The Hidden Truth

1. Men ought to know the truth and be capable to commanding his home.
2. In fact, the Bible makes a point that women are to ask their husbands questions at home (1 Corinthians 14:35).

II. MEN WHO LOVE (Colossians 3:19)

A. Love the Lord

B. Love Their Wives

1. As Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it (Ephesians 5:25)
2. Void of any bitterness

C. Love Their Children (see Ephesians 6:4)

III. MEN WHO LEAD (Colossians 3:20-21)

A. Leading Their Children (Colossians 3:20-21)

1. Giving direction to their children (Colossians 3:20)
2. Encouraging their children (Colossians 3:21)

B. Leading Their Wives (Colossians 3:18)

CONCLUSION: We need some men to step up and be men. We need men who will lead their homes to do right. We need men who will lead their children to do right. We need men who will lead their wives in righteousness and righteous behaviour. We need men who will step up and show the next generation what it means to be a man. Will you be one of those men?
